Raw Vegan Milky Way Slice
This recipe is a fun twist on chocolate candy bars and is very similar to a Milky Way, yet much healthier! This treat is made with superfood dates, high fibre oat flour and no added sugar dark chocolate. You wouldn’t even guess that this is completely vegan.
INGREDIENTS:
BASE
- 1 cup oat flour
- 1 tbsp desiccated coconut
- Pinch salt
- 2 tbsp coconut butter melted
- 1 tbsp + 1 tsp pure maple syrup
CARAMEL
- 6 medjool dates, pitted
- ½ cup coconut cream
- ¼ tsp vanilla essence
- 2 tbsp water
- Pinch Salt
CRUNCH (optional)
- Handful of roasted almonds roughly chopped
CHOCOLATE GLAZE
METHOD:
- Line a tin with baking paper (I used a medium loaf tin)
- In a bowl, combine all the base ingredients and mix till combined. Knead base with your hands until all ingredients stick together
- Press base in the lined tin until evenly spread, place in freezer to set
- In a high speed blender or mixer, add all caramel ingredients and blitz till thoroughly combined (may need to stop and scrape sides of blender)
- Pour caramel over the base and spread evenly. Option to add crunchy almonds on top (press almonds in the caramel to ensure chocolate glaze is smooth)
- Let this harden in the freezer for a few hours or until hard to touch
- Once set, evenly cut slice (I like small rectangles)
- Melt 100g Sweet Williams Dark Chocolate No Added Sugar on stove or microwave
- Using a spoon and moving quickly, pour melted chocolate over each slice. Once completed, place back in freezer to set
- Once set, enjoy! (store in freezer)
