  1. How different is Sweet William chocolate to normal chocolate?
    Dairy Free Chocolate uses soy beans instead of dairy milk, which makes it lactose-free, cholesterol free and free from animal fats


  2. What much protein does it have?
    There are approx 6g per bar. Slightly more than regular chocolate.


  3. How much fat does Dairy Free Chocolate have? How does the fat content compare to regular chocolate?
    Dairy Free does contain a similar amount of total fat, but it does not contain saturated animal fats. It has more essential fatty acids such as OMEGA 3 & 6, which have a cholesterol lowering effect


  4. Does it have sugar in it?
    Yes, Tangerine, Original, Roasted Almond and Rice Crackle have around 14% less than regular chocolate. We also have 'No Added Sugar' available in Original and Tangerine.


  5. Do you know if it's low GI (glycaemic index)?
    Dairy Free has a GI of < 40 which makes it very low GI.


  6. Is it suitable for Vegetarian and Vegans?
    Yes, there are no animal or animal derived products used.


  7. What about caffeine?
    Our Dairy Free Chocolate range does use cocoa like real chocolate. Cocoa naturally contains caffeine, however the amount is so small it's not significant. A cup of black coffee has sixteen times as much caffeine as a 50g bar.


  8. I normally get headaches when I eat chocolate, will this have the same effect?
    Our experience shows that people who get headaches from eating regular chocolate do not get headaches from our Dairy Free Chocolate range.


  9. Do the products contain traces of nuts?

    All products in Dairy Free packaging are 'Peanut Free'. Please check packaging. All of our products contain warnings that traces of almonds may be present to alert people who are allergic. Most people who are allergic to nuts are allergic to peanuts. Almond allergies are much less common. Sweet William Dairy Free Chocolate spread is totally nut free (check packaging).

  10. Can you tell the difference between Regular Dairy Free and No Added Sugar?
    Blind taste tests showed that people were unable to tell the difference between Sweet William Dairy Free Chocolate with or without sugar.


  11. Do you know if it's low GI? (Glycaemic index)
    Sweet William 'No Added Sugar' has a very low GI of <20.



  12. Does Sweet William chocolate contain artificial sweeteners?
    No, the 'No Added Sugar' varieties use Maltitol.


  13. What is Maltitol?
    Maltitol is made from corn starch. Maltitol is slowly absorbed into the blood and may be useful to people with Diabetes.


  14. What if someone is allergic to corn?
    Allergies are usually to corn proteins. There is a potential for a small residue in Maltitol made from corn starch.


  15. What is Inulin?
    Inulin is starch found naturally occurring in the chicory plant.
